Accessibility statement
This site should work for everyone — by keyboard, with a screen reader, magnified or without any animation at all.
Aim
We build silvra.net to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, conformance level AA. This statement covers silvra.net and all its pages; the Helix Explorer and outside services such as Google Play or GitHub are not part of it.
Compliance status
By our checks, silvra.net complies with WCAG 2.2 AA; we currently know of no deviation from level AA. If you find one, please report it — how is described below.
How the site meets it
Among other things:
- A switch “Pause motion and live values” in the header stops every animation and every self-updating number; the operating system’s “reduce motion” setting is honoured as well.
- Everything can be reached by keyboard, focus is always visible and every page starts with a “Skip to content” link. On the home page, ← and → choose a sector.
- Text reaches a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, in the light and the dark theme.
- Status is never conveyed by colour alone, always with a symbol and a word as well.
- The encrypted-looking characters behind the home page and the messenger page are decoration and hidden from screen readers; what they show is said in the text.
- Every page is delivered as finished HTML and readable without JavaScript; headings, landmarks and language are marked up.
- Every page exists in German and in English, each at its own address. On a first visit the language follows your browser’s setting; the DE/EN switch in the header leads to the same page in the other language, without JavaScript too. Your browser remembers your choice if it allows local storage.
- The site can be zoomed to 400% and used down to 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways.
How we check
Before releases we check every page in the light and dark theme, at desktop and phone width, with axe-core against WCAG 2.2 A and AA — including contrast and target size — and test keyboard operation, zoom up to 400% and the motion switch. Last check: 14 October 2026.
Beyond this
What goes beyond level AA or falls outside this statement:
- There is currently no content in Easy Read or in sign language.
- The Helix Explorer is a separate application with a very dense display; it is not covered by this statement.
